Top 3 faves in the show

Meet Pamela Iobst from Pamela Iobst designs- what a gracious lady on top of being very creative & talented- i wish i had taken more pictures of her creations- but i became so involved in open discussion about her creations. but i did manage this and some contact info- enjoy !

Pamela explained that this is dichroic glass? huh? I had heard it mentioned before but Pamela was kind enough to explain the process that this stone undergoes and the process which she uses to make these beautiful creations. The stones on the white torso and the black torso are all the same color white, but when placed over other colors they change to reflect the color they are next to-

On the green in Milford CT Artst & Artisians

It was a beautiful Saturday morning and we were on our way to a tag sale- a store was closing down :( . but there was no one on site. So we decided to go looking around at consignment shops because I'm looking for some vintage stuff for the store front.

All was almost lost when Ray (my hubby) remembered that there was a show in Milford on the Green today ! hurray- we were there in no-time short.

getting in the swing of things

things are starting to return to some form of normalcy- when i'm away from work all summer long coming back is like a fog- until i get my groove back. it's starting to feel familiar again. i have always enjoyed my work but i guess that it is time for a change though i don't see that happening in the near future. First i need to make sure that the program is sound, that the staff is secure and ready to take over and that all the objectives/goals that i had planned for the program are in place. it is a great program that does so much for the community and the program has continuously exceeded the standards set by the feds. every year we have a waiting list that i work with partner agencies to make sure that we have good placements for the people on the list, if i feel that wait will be too long. so far that has worked. i work with a very dedicated group of people {you have to be to work in grassroots community projects}.

Reading Blogs- Oh my

Well the other day i said that i was going to read up on the blogs...
i'm still reading....i have found several that i really enjoy reading and that i hope to follow. there is something to learn everywhere- all people and all things have so much to offer- {personal observation} and even if it is something familiar everyone has their own spin on things. i have been making a point to visit the masters- what a great group of ladies- such dedication & REAL artistic ability. i wanna grow up just like them :)

Tomorrow is my first official day back to work - i really can't wait. {got to bring home the bacon} so much to do this year-

i know that i will miss the grandkids a ton- the best part about summer is spending lazy summer days with them-

i'm short staffed by 3- maybe 4 people- what a crazy end of year, this past june. now comes the interesting part {INTERVIEWS} not one of my favorite things. tomorrow i'll spend most of the day going through a pile of resumes. so since i spent so much time procrastinating - today at last minute i made some cards for my staff- i always like them to start the year with some little thing made by me -

my sister was over today- we had coffee and chatted for a while- she has a new grand baby in the fam so they are all besides themselves. nothing like a new baby to get everyone stirred up.

also i'm currently working on a journal that will list all things i would like my art studio {yep that's right i said art studio} to have- right now i work in a tiny nook between the living room & the dinning room- not that i'm complaining but ya know a girl can dream! i will write again

YeYa

i got the nickname Ye Ya from my first grandchild- she started calling me that when she was about 8-9 months old - it became very familiar and alas i am known to all by that nick name. i felt a little weird when i heard someone in the family encouraging their grand child to call them by ye ya- because before my grand daughter everyone else was "grandma, abuela, lela- never any ye ya's before me and my grandbaby Lily - So it shows their lack of originality- i feel very proud of the nickname because my grandbaby gave it to me- it was a very private and personal exchange- and now this person kinda of wrecked it for me! it may not mean anything to anyone else but to me it does- on a very personal level- by the way this is a picture of my cutie grand baby Lily

Surprise Surprise

Well, I finally started researching other blogs out there which I knew were many- but never actually sat there and leafed through them. There are hundreds of them! Mostly all good, which I hope that someday my blog will be, they are full of information. For instance I stopped by a blog this morning which I won't name until I'm clear on the protocols of mentioning other people's writings. Well it happens that one of my fave places to get stuff is eigher getting ready to close or is closed - Daisy D's - I will write more about it later once I know for sure. I haven't developed of list of blogs that I follow yet - because like I said I just started reading- But I will soon!

My Passion for Scrapbooking

I developed my passion for scrapbooking when I was in high school, yes way back then. Of course we didn't have the elaborate embellishments or the beautiful papers we have now but, it was scrapbooking.

When my children started to fill my home I took pictures of everything they did, everywhere we went, but by now like most people I wasn't scrapbooking because I didn't have the time. So most of my pictures would end up in shoe boxes in my closets.

As my children got older and grand children started arriving, I started scrapbooking again, by now the scrapbooking industry was developing and oh what a wonderful time I would have creating these beautiful pages about my family, with short stories describing the events.

Now here we are ten years later and the scrapbooking industries has made leaps and bounds! There are so many wonderful products now, there is something for every style, occassion.
I feel so very priviledge to be able to do this for my family, you see when I look at pictures from when my mother and father were young and rising their family they took many pictures, but there are no little stories to tell me and my children what was happening and who are the people in the photos.

So this is why I get such joy from scrapbooking, I am making history books for my children and their children- so that they know where they come from and who they are.
